The renovations to our course were completed in time for our Grand Re-Opening Tournament on October 20th, 2017. All of the previous fairway grass was killed off and removed. A new strain of grass called Paspalum was planted to replace the previous mixture of Rye, Burmuda, St. Augustine and a lot of clover. This special grass is perfect for our Florida climate as it loves the sunshine, does not need that much water, stays green all year and is fairly salt tolerant. It also tends to grow outwards rather than up, so it is nearly a perfect grass for a Florida course like ours. The roots grow down deep so that when you take a divot, the grass should recover fairly quickly.
We also repaired several seawalls, added flower beds and repaired some of the cart paths. This last summer we also added our signature clock tower, built the Palmer Deck off the Hagen Grill and installed some canopies poolside.
Please enjoy the videos below we made to show everyone the progress we were making on the course renovations.
