Golf Course Update!
Membership, I am excited to announce that we have begun our scheduled golf course improvement work for 2026. This work includes the removal of significant sections of cart path, installation of additional drainage, rebuilding of the chipping green area, and seawall repair along the 4th tee box. While we would typically complete projects like these during the summer, much of the drainage work must be in place prior to the start of the rainy season. We are still early in the process, so schedules may evolve, but at this time we anticipate completing the golf course work by mid-June. Please keep in mind that this timeline is highly weather-dependent and adjustments may be necessary. Our goal is to complete this work with as little disruption to play as possible. Once finished, we expect to see meaningful improvements in playing conditions throughout the summer. We are also planning to install additional drainage in other areas of the course next year; however, those projects would have required more extensive closures if completed at this time. As part of this project, we will be splitting and rebuilding the right fairway bunker on Hole 12. This enhancement will introduce a more strategic element to the hole, requiring players to choose whether to lay up short or take on a more aggressive line to the right or left. This work was originally scheduled for 2027, but due to the planned drainage improvements in that area, it made sense to complete it concurrently and minimize future disruption. During construction, Hole 12 will be played as a par 4, returning to its normal configuration once the area is fully established. We will also be constructing new championship tee boxes on Holes 8 and 16 this summer. The new tee on 16 will be positioned farther from the 15th green, improving safety from errant shots while also allowing us to reroute the cart path farther from the green. For most of the project, play will continue from the existing tee; however, during the final phase, the tee will need to be closed briefly to allow the new sod to properly establish. We anticipate this closure will be limited to a few weeks. Additionally, we will be rebuilding our chipping green complex. Completing this work now will ensure we have a full practice facility available for members during the golf course closure. The bunker green will remain open for use with the exception of the days we need to spray out the turf. During construction, if your ball comes to rest in a disturbed area, please take a free drop no closer to the hole. We are confident these enhancements will significantly improve both the strategy and overall playability of the golf course. Thank you for your patience and support as we continue our journey to the next level. I encourage everyone to join us in the dining room on April 30th at 6pm as we will be giving a progress update on all three of our projects. If you plan to attend and stay for dinner I strongly encourage your to make reservations as seating may be limited. Sincerely, Tommy Hart General Manager Pasadena Yacht & Country Club Comments are closed.
